A Fool and His Riches
Bible Text: Luke 12:13-21 | Preacher: Pastor Stephen Hess | Series: The Gospel of Luke |
“The Fool and His Riches”
Luke 12:13-21
Four Mistakes Made by the Rich Man
1) He understood his riches as owned rather than stewarded
“And he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’” (Luke 13:17)
2) He operated as a hoarder rather than a giver
“And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones…’” (Luke 13:18)
3) He placed his hope in the temporal rather than the eternal
“God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things
you have prepared, whose will they be?’” (Luke 13:20)
4) He invested in this world rather than in heaven
“So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 13:21)
